hard to find 5a parts?

There may be a few odds and ends that can’t be bought new or refurbished, but overall no harder or easier than most classics IMO. Brake and clutch parts are probably the easiest bits to get.

That wire should go to the idle solenoid on the carb (if it has one). Have a read through this thread.

No, if you’re using anything apart from a piggyback ECU, you don’t keep the OEM ECU at all. Canems etc must control spark, to map against the fuel.
