Stuttering / Cutting out, petrol starvation

The carb just needs fuel in the float chamber. 3 ish psi is what it needs to keep the float chamber full at max chat (it’s easier to measure pressure than volume).

Flat spot at 2500 RPM

One of the checks after overhaul is the throttle plate synchronisation, to ensure that the progression holes aren’t exposed at idle. If one was blocked it would run very lean at higher rpm.

I haven’t seen anything about a ban on driving cars in the ULEZ - it’s a charge isn’t it? Unfortunate if you wish to live in that area and are a classic car owner but not “unusable”? i wonder if you could find Storage outside the ULEZ that was cheaper than the charge for driving your post 81 classic...

Your GTC will be (or soon become) exempt from the T charge by 2021 - I wonder if the ULEZ will carry the same exemptions? Technically Trevor, the charges apply to overseas vehicles (as we are liable when visiting mainland Europe) but on the spot enforcement will be non-existent in UK and it remains ...

Front bumper and glass fibre moulding SE6B

unless you're having a full respray, I'd go for a paint match rather than using the original colour on just the nose?

Do NOT hit the carb upward with anything other than your hand. The only place to get upward movement is the air filter securing flange - and that will crack quite easily. Just rocking it will free it eventually.

Just rotate the dipstick tube, so that it protrudes between the pipes. It may need a little sealant at the base if it’s too loose after moving it.

SS1 Fuel Pump Query

Okay just looked back - in out and return. G97 didn’t have one when I got it so I guess it works fine without it?

Certainly not vacuum though.

SS1 Fuel Pump Query

I can't imagine why a carb engine fuel pump would need a vacuum? does the pipe come from the inlet manifold or carb?

someone posted a picture of a CVH pump with a bypass line recently (second return basically) - never seen (or needed) one myself :-)
