Funny peculiar brake issue

It could be brake pad knockback. Does it happen after reversing round a bend? Flex in the stub axle or play in the bearings can cause movement of the disk which pushes the pads away a little. At the next application the pad travel is extra long causing the symptom you describe. We had this with a Co...

Straight Six rear crank seal

I've just removed the engine from our Sabre Six GT. As Chris says, not too difficult. For me a couple of day's work. Note home made engine crane!

For interest here are engine mounts for Zodiac and TR6 for comparison. The level difference Chris reported is clear.

Hi Philip I was interested to hear that you have recently obtained an MoT for your 50+ year old car. Another Sabre Six owner has told us that his MoT garage refused to carry out an MoT on his car. Instead he carried out an equivalent technical inspection and issued a written statement that it met Mo...

MY l0VER on an Evoque in Bromley. Amusingly it had a parking ticket on the windscreen. They were obviously too busy to notice.

Chris, you might be interested in this picture from the first Sabra Sabre meeting in 2000 when you were a boy! All cars and drivers present this year. You'll recognise the car I'm leaning on.

Best Clutch Kit,S6.

With our convertible Sabre Six we suffered from severe clutch judder. Changing clutch cover and friction plate at least once made no difference so I decided to have a new steel flywheel made to take a more modern diaphragm clutch (Sierra). That certainly solved the problem. Interestingly the weight ...

door handle retainers

André replaced his door handles with new ones. Perhaps he still has his old "retainers"?

Your door handles are from a Standard 8/10. The photo posted by Old and Slow is of a Rover P4 door handle. Reliant/ Autocars obviously used both types. Both types can be obtained new.

Wire Wheel Refurbishment

You could try Motor Wheel Service International at Langley - not too far from you(www.mwsint.com). They certainly restore wire wheels, but they might prefer you to buy their new ones. I have just replaced the wire wheels on our Sabre Six GT with new painted silver ones and new Pirelli Cinturato CA67s.

Reliant Sabre six

In fact it was first advertised in Slice 258 (July-August 2014) with an asking price of £18,500. So, arguably, a bargain at the current asking price.
