for anyone that fancies having a go themselves, it's as straightforward as it looks. The collars set the crownwheel's position relative to the pinion, it's a bit of a balancing act between setting the backlash and bearing preload, but a dti shows whats going on. had to take about 2.5 mm off the lumpy bit...apparently it's a thing when squeezing a quaife in...seems odd, but that really is the only way it was going in there ...even then it's a finger biting job. Well done that man...about the only thing i would have done different would be to put the crown wheel in the oven for an hour at 100 c and used the 4 bolts to pull it on, the book says to use new bolts (available from burtons at £1.50 each ) but thats not a bother. i honestly dont know, but the reliant shafts should fit the diff. If you used the flanged setup i'm guessing you would need new drive shafts made to suit ?

if i remember correctly, the hoop came off the banana but we used the fittings from that when we put the other roll bar in, so those alloy bits will be from the blue one unfortunately

my dad had a 2.5 consul (sweeny type ) back in the day and he hit 100 and wondered why it wouldnt go faster... until i noticed he was in 3rd !...i do like the o/d function but would plumb for a 4 speed box if i had the choice
