Ians GTC rebuild. Now the work begins

Its been a year since I decided to go down this road, compared to some restoration projects on here, that is a relatively short period of time. Im looking forward to re-assembly work rather than dismantling it. Never realised how big a pile of boxes you can create when taking a car apart. The car l...

Jim, a faulty temperature sensor on the radiator won't have any effect on the running of the engine, will it?
Not other than failing to cool the engine if it fails open. It’s not checked by the ECU.

It may also be worth doing a compression test. A tester can be bought from Halfords for about £20.

A blown gasket (between cylinders) can give similar symptoms.

Corky's Scimitars

Well the winner of the 2018 CM used one, so I thought I’d see what the fuss was about

But I have a few improvements planned for the SS1 that will make it better on CM handicap. So I’ll see how this year goes before I go full on hairdresser

Unfortunately I don’t have them, as it’s a 2nd hand cage. Maybe the manufacturer could supply some? I’ll ask.

Cheers

Corky's Scimitars

I've decided to stick with a Scimitar for next season. I haven't found anything that floats my boat. Had a look at a couple of Boxster S and S2000s and even an MX5, but couldn't get excited about any of them  So new tyres have been ordered and rims chosen  . Target power and weight calcul...

Also check they're isn't any water in the MAF. It's very common to find that a Ti won't start if it's been washed, driven through a deep puddle or if any liquid has been poured around the MAF or air filter. This is due to it taking air from under the wheelarch, and the MAF sitting at the wrong angle...

Agree with AJL, they need minimum cooking. Blanch in boiling water for about two minutes, then drop into ice or cold water (this ensures they’re a nice bright green colour and not beige). Then when you’re about 5 mins off serving Christmas dinner, drop them back into the boiling water, give them abo...

Track Tyres for sale R888 SG soft compound

I can probably post them for around £20.

Will fit most 15" wheels found on Scimitars 6.5 - 7.5 J is the recommended width of wheel, but a 6J should be fine.

Looks like someone painted the wheels that were black on the advert linked above.
