Corky's Scimitars (..and now an SS1 race car build)

Secondary throttle return spring fitted.

I can't find anywhere in the regs where it says you have to have one. But I sort of remember reading it in there in the distant past. However, it's a good safety feature, so I've fitted one.

Brake fail switch

By older I mean original equipment. About seven or eight years ago replacement MCs were virtually unobtainable, so with the help of a parts supplier and a bit of experimentation to get the fitment right, I developed a replacement. These have the brass switch that Jim referred to. There are other dif...

Brake fail switch

The brass ones don’t fit the older MCs. Different thread I’m afraid. I did find a replacement switch a few years ago. As I said it my earlier post it was either MGB or LDV/Sherpa. In my limited experience I found that there is more than one type of original MC. So there may not be one switch to cove...

Gaz Shocks for SS1 for sale

Thanks for the offer Mark, but I’ve already replaced the shocks with standard bushed versions. If I had another SS1 or Sabre road car, I’d use these spherical bushed shocks on that. They are brilliant, just not allowed for competing in RG. Once you get to the categories above they’re permitted. If t...

Corky's Scimitars (..and now an SS1 race car build)

More jobs ticked off: Exhaust fitting finished off. Polybushed shocks fitted and rose jointed ones removed, to comply with RG regs. Standard type rear ARB links fitted and rose jointed ones removed, as above. Tappets adjusted to 10 thou from 12 thou. It’s now much quieter on the Autosprint cam. Stai...

Wiper upgrade question (again)

That was Ronnie’s conversion, and IIRC it was done using a Corsa wiper rack.

Wanted: 5a Door handle (or parts)

I had the same problem years ago whilst replacing handles in a 5a with Mini ones.

I drilled a small hole in the end of the plungers, screwed in a self tapping screw laden with superglue. Worked a treat!
