GTC hood suppliers?

Yes you’ll need to fit the poppers yourself. Prym pliers work a treat and are not too expensive (John Lewis are a good source).

Any recommendations on paint for suspension parts

Controversial choice, but I use hammerite smooth and clean the road film off it annually before dabbing in any chips. Can be painted without primer and even over rust (though I don’t do that).

POR15 etc. are supposed to be way better, but are very expensive. My approach works for me

GTC hood suppliers?

I had a GTC hood from Don and a Sabre Hood from Aldridge. Both were their best quality mohair type hoods and both were very well made and a perfect fit. I fitted both myself without too much fuss. It’s easy enough to do if you take your time and ensure you have some good quality hole punch and poppe...

Just found this review for RS3 on a Touareg. Smaller size, so maybe the 20’s will be better again?

The favourite for a P38 seemed to be Scorpion Verde when I was looking but I’m guessing you don’t go plugging across fields on a regular basis even if some of the paddocks can be “interesting” :D Just double checked and it’s Pirelli Scorpion Verde that are on it at the moment, but the wet weather p...

Recommended Tyres for 4X4

I’ve got RS3 on my S2K, and they need quite a bit of pressure on that. But worked well at a lower pressure on the Audi. I had Contis on the Audi from new but found their wet grip lacking in comparison to RS3 I replaced them with. However, in dry weather they were better than the RS3. Fir a road car ...

Tbh, the line between car and 4x4 is pretty blurred these days. Your Touareg isn't too different in weight and power to most current big estates and the drive systems are identical so I'd be buying tyres as if you were any other car. As you like the rainsports, I'd give them a go? I’m tempted but n...

Very true - I could say it’s not a “real” 4x4, so stick with car tyres..    :w  It is a Touareg not a Tiguan, and although it doesn’t have a separate chassis like the old school mud pluggers, it is quite a capable off-roader (There are some impressive videos on You...

If Jim can't find any, they are available new from RPW. I think I paid about ten quid for a pair.

Recommended Tyres for 4X4

I left my car in the long stay at Heathrow for two weeks and upon my return at 7am (after 14.5hr flight), I found one of the rear tyres on the Touareg to be completely flat. How pleased I was :w  Luckily I managed to inflate it with the supplied compressor and didn't have to change to the spar...

Hillclimb tyres SS1 1800

I have a set of 195/50/15 Rainsport 3 that will be for sale. They have about 4mm left, so just right for sprinting. New RS3s aren’t at their best unless shaved down to 3-4mm.

I also have three good alloys to go with them. The 4th is bent (fixable) but new ones of the same type are available. new.

There are plenty of RG cars out there with widened arches or wearing JDM style extensions. Peter’s car has spaced wings and entered as RG without any issues.

Strictly legal or not, scrutes don’t seem too bothered.

Final Results posted on page 1. These are what the spreadsheet has squirted out, so subject to verification. Congrats to Nick Keyser as overall champ. If I've got this right, then Jim is RG (under 170BHP winner) and I'm RG (over 170BHP winner) Not sure about MP, but someone will know.... Jim 2nd ove...
