What model do I have is it a 6 or 6A

it was registered on the 22/7/1976 and has the vin number as 6E43/18401420 First reg date has no meaning on the 'what model' question. It was built in May 1976 ( = 6E) as an automatic with PAS ( = 184) as number 1420. So it should be an SE6. Major clue is what brakes? Girling 3 pot is se6 and Lockh...

Forgetfullness

Sounds you may have a bit too much on your plate.

Time to take a break and have a look at what you really want. (racing Scimitars of course :D )

1990 SS1 Netherlands

Car is on Dutch plates since 2007. No valid APK (=MOT) since 2008. So of the road for ten years now. Car looks bad. I think it is at the garage / breaker near the railroad track. I noticed it a few months ago from the train. Even on that distance it did not look decent. So verdict... As Jim states: ...

Grabbing a list together of "watch out areas" please gents

The usual: "Buy the best you can afford" still applies :D

Just two options IMHO: get the cheapest as possible and do a full resto OR buy the best you can afford.

GTC production info

Long ago, Harewood 2000, Intnl meeting, I spoke to the owner of a light blue GTC. That one looked superb back than. The owner told me is was restored after a fire accident. It could be the same car, it could be another one. No pictures, no names alas.

South African Essex engines

Engines look very complete. No inlet manifold or carb. But all other bits come with it. Flywheel not sure though.

South African Essex engines

Someone made me an offer: A batch brand new SA Essex 3 ltr engines. New old stock, boxed and complete. These were meant to be stationary engines. Built somewhere early nineties I guess. As I can't find any differences in SA Essex 3ltr engines for car and stationary use, does anyone know what te bewa...

Scimitar prices in Germany

Prices for pointy cars are even in the Netherlands hard to give. Hardly any known sales. More important - good cars are not offered for sale, only project or non runners.
Projects tend to cost as much as in the UK, with transort to NL included in the prices.
Owners of good cars tend to keep them.

Scimitar prices in Germany

Just my personal estimate from looking at prices in France, I'd suggest it is in line with Germany, with a small lower value on the SS1 range and a bit higher on the earlier cars.

4 Scimitars Up For Auction 16th May

These prices are good news.
Good cars are getting towards the level these deserve. :D
Did you notice the Scimitars got much better prices than the MG Midgets? Only a few years ago it was the other way around.
