PFW 337V

hi scimjim
yes it does stay in position , look at the last photo you can see the cut outs in the arm coming from the diaphragm , that is stopping any further movement

PFW 337V

Ok Have taken it apart and the weights move ok and the vac adv is connect ok and no screws impeding , However the V/A arm does move if I suck on it but only about 1mm . The slot in the base plate will allow the magnet pickup to move about 7-8mm if the arm coming out of the diaphragm was able to move...

Yes the base plate is moving when I pulled the unit away from the dizzy , you can see a difference in the two photos , but don't think the arm movers within the Vac Unit will look at that later today

Hi all Sorry had to go to work, chauffeur but back home now, Scimjim :- As the Vac Advance has no effect at idle this is good for me as I get a nice smooth idle now, I do get some advance from the mechanical weights as I rev the engine as I can see the strobe light move , but does the Vac Adv also a...

New dizzy, new problems!!

PFW 337V

Hi Admin, this is my car ,
Is it possible to add this post or a link into mine re:- Thermostat Housing Pressure Cap
This problem has not gone away and is masked by advancing the dizzy. I think it may be the Vac Advanced system as having sucked on it it does not seem to move

Thermostat Housing Pressure Cap

I personally have not changed the cam gear and I don't think PO has , but it has had a rebuild 15 years ago

This is a photo of the engine as I was putting it back togeather with the dizzy position
If I take it out and reposition it will that make the timing marks line up better ?

Thermostat Housing Pressure Cap

Hi scimjim

Yes defiantly No1 as I tried on the others as well, the photo is of the running engine, and running well

I can turn the dizzy while its running and get the timing marks to line up, but it then runs like a pig

Thermostat Housing Pressure Cap

Hi gtcse8

Sounds like an idea

Did have the dizzy out, to do head gaskets, and put it back where I though it went , may not have been in the wright place to start with. As PO replace dizzy and may have got it wrong then.
