mechanical advance/surge/hunt issues

Timing never checked Ian, how did you set it ? Don't forget to allow for wear in the drive etc. Take dizzy apart, two screws and remove base plate, carb cleaner then look at springs, they wear a slot in the peg that holds them, if so bend peg a bit to compensate, one spring a little loose is normal,...

Ebay Fees, how much ??

If you're not in a hurry, then a Classified Advert has worked for me in the past - you can't argue with the footfall of eBay although others have had good results with carandclassic,co.uk (which also shows eBay listings in its search results). C&C is free, so might be worth a try? Made a listing in...

Ebay Fees, how much ??

Does any one know how much it costs to sell say a £4000 vehicle on ebay?
My computer takes ages to troll through the rules as it's very old, is it basic fees plus a percentage of the end price ? I think they charge for using paypal as well, I was told it's ten per cent but that seems rather a lot

GTE starting problem

Its a failed ballast resistor as suggested. That explains the bad starting recently, here's me thinking it was the fuel running back to the tank when stood. Anyway, with a live to the coil she started straight away this morning so problem solved. Thanks to all, she's going tomorrow and I'll be sadde...

Thinking of selling

Well done on the sale. A very interesting topic and for me personally an emotional roller coaster of views on owning a Scimitar. I own 3 GTC’S from number 13 to 404 all 3 have some degree of a problem. However, wouldn’t dream of selling - I guess it was hard to let yours go. RonH A hard decision bu...

I'm not sure what someone expects for £1,600 Body off , new headlamps , no washer bottle. Hahaha...see ,this is why i never join 😂 Doesn't need the body taking off, just a wire brush and some paint to the rusty item. doesn't need new headlamps just a switch, I have a washer bottle that will fit I s...

Thinking of selling

Sounds like a few quid on consumables, an air filter, headlight switch and a washer bottle and a weekends work to me? It certainly doesn't need the body off to fix  May be worth paying someone to do the minor work, getting an MOT and raising the price accordingly? Air filter back on , took it...

Thinking of selling

Hi. I don't think I want your GTE because the body looks good but the chassis is shot and would need a full body off to fix, plus the MOT said insufficient washer liquid at front there is nothing there to deliver it. The headlights need replacing and it would have to be taken to a garage for the em...

GTE starting problem

Is it an electric fuel pump? If so, where does it get its 12V supply from? I have seen them conected to the +ve on the coil. Mechanical pump, its as if the ignition is switched off after she starts, I'll check the wiring around the coil when I have time, it happened an hour before mot time and was ...
