SS1 1800ti thermostat outlet

Suddenly in dire need of the thermostat housing/outlet - the bit that bolts on and off the inlet manifold, for my ti, I realise reliantpartsworld sell them but I could do with one ASAP, if at all possibly - car was meant to be going to a show on Sunday  willing to travel to pick one up, so has ...

Don't worry - I have axle stands - just where I was at the time I didn't have any - before I went properly under it I had both the wood wedged and the wheel that had been taken off under the car next to me... FAR from ideal I know, but enough that I felt safe for that short period of time - every ti...

Ti thermostat

Yup I'm reading temp from the megasquirt - I've got it set as per the nissan manual for the ECU sensor, they give a fairly wide range for resistance so I went for middle of the given ranges for resistance, so it could well be off, but I think it's very unlikely to be around 20 degrees off, which is ...

Ti thermostat

Okay that's great, thanks! seems 88 is indeed the one to go for... presume any std kit will come with the requisite gaskets, and is there any trick to getting the coolant properly filled and bled? there seems to be a different procedure that works best for every car I've ever worked on!

Turbocharged Holidays

Hi all, I've been on the forums a few months now, and during holidays from university (I'm an engineering student) been working on my SS1 1800ti, and it's definitely in dire need of a project page! I won't be able to get everything up in this first post, but should have it up to date in the next few...

Ti thermostat

As the datalogs from my megasquirt have shown, my Ti takes a long time to warm up, and always runs very much on the cold side, at around 70°c, so it certainly looks like a new thermostat is in need! The calibration I've put into the megasquirt is based off the figures for the ECU sensor from Nissan,...

CV Joints and Clips for Viscous LSD Conversion

Managed to get it off with a standard 24mm spanner - though I can see a shortened socket would be ideal... Struggled with a few bits but the old open diff is finally off - fingers crossed with no big issues it'll all be back together tomorrow... Having got it all apart to look at now, I'm slightly c...

Re: CV Joints and Clips for Viscous LSD Conversion

Thanks for all the advice guys! I've got all the bits now, and am cracking on with the conversion - will be using the springs for sure  Struggled with the final removal of the trailing arm today - all apart except one of the two bolts where it pivots - can't get anything onto the nut that's tuc...

Re: Tyre rubbing woes

Hole now moved over an inch or so - here's hoping this gets it sorted!

Moving it out by 6" sounds mad  maybe I'll get that far one day

Re: Tyre rubbing woes

Just put the car on a tarmac road and checked heights again properly - all around 6" in fact, and quite even, though the rear did seem very soft, suppose I'd better stiffen the shocks... Will have a look further into spacing out the arch - is it really only the single bolt through the boot liner tha...

Tyre rubbing woes

Me again - clearly spending far too much time fiddling with my SS1 at the moment  My car has always rubbed a tiny bit on the sidewall of the driver's side rear tyre, though this has started getting worse recently... The rear end of the car is standard, standard size 185/60/14 tyres on original ...

Re: CV Joints and Clips for Viscous LSD Conversion

Excellent! So I'd just need to buy two of those, and fit using whichever combination of clips from the old joints and clips that came with the new CV's? Very surprised (and pleased) at how cheap those are! Are they good quality? I'd happily pay a bit more if there's a better variant to be had, thoug...

CV Joints and Clips for Viscous LSD Conversion

Hi guys, Finally found an LSD in great condition for a good price near me, so have jumped on it and it's sitting in my garage awaiting fitment! I've read the guide on getting it fitted, and converting the shafts to bolt on CV's, though I'm just unsure on which clips etc i will need. I don't have a s...
