Earthing Rear Lights

I have different lights now but I had the same sort of problems with mine when I got it. I daisy-chained wires between each light cluster (ie not the casing) and then ran a wire to the rear horizontal bar behind the bumper from the innermost cluster on each side. I still have it like that on my new ...

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

Well, plan 2 today was - if necessary - to wrap it in tight neat coils of solder and then gently braze it into a ring. Plan 1 was really just to inspect it and see if maybe it's a leaky hose join, or even possibly a split hose.. I've been lifting the engine recently to replace the engine mounts so a...

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

In other news... I had been sensing a smell of antifreeze when driving around recently, and I began to fear the worst. Last weekend I had the car parked outside the house so I started her up and let her run up to temperature to see what I could see. I have steam coming from the top incoming hose mou...

Se5a Rolling rejuvenation project

Hello Pete, thanks for the interest. For now, I've withdrawn the car from sale. It was only put for sale as a sensible decision in a business flat-spot where it seemed unwise to keep hold of it. For now though it looks as though a few things are happening and the wolf will not be at my door just yet...

*No longer for sale*

Hello Pete,

I have withdrawn the car from sale. It was only put up for sale due to business flat-lining for three months, but things have now picked up again so for the time being I'll be cracking on with the car.

I've postponed the decision to sell it for now. I've been focussing on other more important things... in-between finishing off some quick jobs I wanted to do to the car. It may well get sold, it depends on how my fortunes go over the next month and the rest of the year. Being honest though, I doubt ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

Tim, not to seem facetious in any way, have you tried shelf-filling at Tesco or working in a fast food place? Maggie's Millions... yeah, I remember those days. I have never been unemployed for a single week since leaving school in 1985. I've never signed on. I've never had anything off anyone that ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

A minimum number of posts before a For Sale post might work I agree with this. To be really honest I think a lot of the stuff on here ought to be concealed behind a pay-wall that defines what membership is. On many other car club forums I've been on, not being a member means you are really limited ...

What happens to all the XXXX's ?

FWIW Ronnie, I'm still here and my car is still here too. I understand the curiosity angle about this sort of thing though as I am always curious about it, especially with people who arrive in places like this, introduce themselves and seem incredibly enthusiastic, and then they just disappear as qu...

General maintenance note to self: New Flamethrower 2 coil and NGK plugs fitted. (please ignore these notes, they are purely here for an online record of progress. When I sell a car I always find it useful to refer to a thread such as this for evidence of the car's treatment and maintenance over the ...

a question about engine mount sizes.

Thank you everyone for your help today. I was in a rush to try and get it in at my friend's place so it was a bit of a time-sensitive question. I appreciate the responses.

Sounds like a vacuum problem from the brief description, though somebody will be along shortly to tell you otherwise with better experience than my own. Have you tested the vacuum advance tube/pipe? it might possibly be a bad vacuum advance. (I hate responding to these things because I'm usually wro...

shabby 73 Se5a for sale

Quick update...

I'm in the process of changing the engine mounts, so the car will be parked up until I get a weekend to do it.
At that point I will then post up some pics,a video of the car running, a longer description of what's for sale (good, bad and ugly), and a suggestion of price.
