I'm not sure I understand but I assume you're either not a fan of Beetles or not a fan of that kind of treatment. The one in question was actually clear lacquered to an incredibly smooth glass-like finish, so all the imperfections were encapsulated behind a smooth surface. I quite like that. It's we...

Decided to give the car a clean ready for Goodwood this morning. For the first time ever I made a tentative stab at the interior as well. The upshot is the car has now been promoted to 'filthy' from 'derelict & disgusting'. I also, for the first time ever, decided to have a little play with some wax...

Wanted : SE5 rear grab handles......

PM me if nothing comes up. I have a pair screwed to my car (One has been relocated as the pull handle on my improvised driver's door card) and they are red leather, and I don't like them. They're only still there because I haven't started looking at my interior yet, but I'd be happy to remove them a...

Ah yes, I see 'em.

Just noticed they're also selling the round lights I'm using on my rear end... but they're charging £18 per lamp. Ruddy Nora... I got all six of mine for not much more than that!

Good shout on the reflectors though. I'll investigate.

Cheers Mr Flat hat. I did have that thought earlier too, and I might go and see what the bike shops have on their racks once I've tidied up all my stuff (before the wife gets home and wigs out about the mess I've made)

:D

I might go up to superdrug and see what girly products they're selling with chrome-effect plastic caps to cover my nuts with for the next couple of days.

Job done. https://s26.postimg.org/y2rmpof15/Screen_Shot_2017-09-06_at_14.01.36.png For 3 hour's work I'm chuffed to bits with that. The bumper is as tough as anything. I could stand on it. My rear end is now firmly in the 'phase 1' stage... bumper needs finishing, lights need re-doing, but for my ta...

How about using metric bolts instead? I did and they didn't match the thread all the way through the hole... an accumulative difference between the threads meant they'd go some way in and then jam (and I did clean out the holes and threads, yes). I think the best way is to get the correct bumper ir...

Attempting a hastily improvised slapdashing of my bumper in the vain hope I get it on for my trip to Goodwood this Friday. No real reason other than it's sometimes good to have a deadline. I've been cobbling brackets out of old bits of sheet metal in order to avoid: 1. Having a ruddy great bolt stic...

If it's not there Steve, you could always buy it back.

For £50

If I could find one, yes, and if it was for sale for less than a hundred quid. This was twenty quid. Cheapest by far. It's not as good as it looks in the puc to be honest. Chrome is shot. Rusty inside. Slotted holes are rounded and deformed and the side brackets are just mounds of rust.

Thanks for the offer Coupe'Racing. Although I'm hacking it to pieces I do like the idea of retaining some Scimitarness to the end result, and as I have this big ol' chunk of metal here I may as well start with that. Also though... part of the reason I'm looking at bumpers is that we have hotly conte...

Hahaha Yes, it was the front of the coupe that gave me the idea for fashioning a rear bumper for my thoroughly and irreversibly de-bumpered rear end. I'd like to have it return so it's tucked to the bodywork as per that. This though is going to take me longer to figure out and fabricate now I've fin...
