Re: Project Green and Cream Update!!

Yeh reading a bit more I'm only replacing the T seal, the outer seal on the hatch itself so trying to find something in depth but just read on the White omega scimitar project it only took him a few minutes and poking with a screwdriver so I might be alright!

Re: Project Green and Cream Update!!

Ha! Yes I'll do that. Took the car to GW today had a good chat with him, picked up all new boot and rear hatch seals, door seals and weather strips etc, new bulbs for the dash clocks, new battery... Hoping to fit it all soon. According to the forum though it seems the rear hatch seal is a pig of a j...

Project Green and Cream Update!!

Two months ago I had a late night rant on here after destroying the starter on the scimitar aswell as the points and timing... :| I said that was it, enough was enough, the money pit rumours were true! Two months later mould was starting to grow in the boot so I got the credit card out, thought scre...

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

Dead for the time being! - this is a bit of a whinge/rant but I need it after the last few nights on this so I appologise in advance! So tonight I got another set of points in and tried again and it displayed the symptoms of timing being out, so you guys were right! I've not adjusted timing since I ...

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

So I've kind of concluded unless Roger says otherwise that this weak spark will be cured once I get a new set of points tomorrow - I appogise Rebel Alliance but due to my guess work with the wiring I melted the points you sent me, melted the little plastic bit that opens and closes the points so it'...

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

Yes, the low tension wire from the points should go to the coil -ve If it's backfiring (is that what you mean?) that's unlikely to be a result of the coil being the wrong way round though. Bear in mind that if you've changed back to points from electronic ignition, you'll probably have to reset the...

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

Ok I swapped them over and we are now started!! :) :) :)

However it sounds like it's getting a weedy spark and on a test plug the spark does look a bit crap... So I think all that's left is to gap the points correctly?

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

Points gap form memory should be 25thou - don't forget to wire the coil correctly - dizzy to -ve and +ve to power be it via ballast or eureka when you say dizzy to -ve do you mean the points wired directly to that via the low tension wire? I'm currently wired to the + and it keeps trying to set eve...

Re: The Cutting Out Is Back - With A Vengeance

Just a thought but have you got the points gapped correctly ? From memory should be around 20 thou ermmm no? I've just had a read up on why I'd need to do that (i thought as long as the points gap is closed and creating a connection at some point then it should surely spark, but after reading the g...
