Front hub oddity

Yes, I’m sure you’re right there Roger, mine has definitely been apart by a lot of people as I found doing the rebuilding there were lots of bits that were odd or didn’t match etc. Worn pads did fit, as I tried them when trying to fathom out why the new ones wouldn’t, then realised that the disc was...

Front hub oddity

I had to shim my caliper out on my se6 when I put it back together, but I'm sure there were none on it when I pulled it apart. Without, 1 rubbed, and 1 was close, and the new pads wouldn't fit. I guess the mix of new bearings and pads made the difference?

Just been to the dentist......

The trouble with old stuf is usually get in car, start, what's that noise, check that noise, worry if that weld has held up, will that split pin fall out, arrive, stressed.
I'm feeling that confident, I'm going out to see concord tomorrow, and I'm taking the scim.

Just been to the dentist......

As the title says, just been to the dentist, no big deal, but I've just got home and realised a few things..... I went in the scimitar, and gave no thought as to all the potential problems that may happen, it's comfortable and quite fast, the heater and heated seats are better that any other car I'v...

SE5a Body Off Resto

Great work so far! I'm so glad I took my body off, that way you know you have seen everything properly. I would strongly advise you to think about having the chassis galvanised once it's welded. Didn't cost a fortune, and it's way better protection than paint. I've had my Land Rover 18 years, the fi...

Fascinating Scimitar...

There are lots of unfinished kit/ home built stuff for sale recently, no doubt as the word is getting out about modified/ sva/ VHI etc, it always been there, but as scimmymike says, the noose is closing in and the days of using a headlight from a donor, making a car out of cardboard, stickytape and ...

Mad prices of Fords

A bit off topic, but the whole car thing a desirability tends to revolve around liking a car from your childhood or earlier in life, so people now in their 50s are looking to buy an xr3 or golf gti, often they either had one and had to sell when the kid arrived or house purchase , or they wanted one...

se6 chassis and build progress.

Thanks Benk ! Still absolutely loads to do, I don't know if you saw the build earlier, but the reason I went rear opening was mainly to get over the common leak problem that roars the seat belt area. The near side is wet and leaking, and the new side is dry. I'm still deciding if I should stick the ...
