Trying to start...after a year or two

Hi Pete, IF it has been standing all that time the points might have seized and be sticking open. In the thread above you haven't mentioned anything about looking inside the distributor and that is the first place I'd look. With the dizzy cap off you should still get a spark on the king lead from th...

Standard fusebox contacts

Yes Phil, you are right in that the 1960's rally fitting is individual glass fuses for each headlight beam, spots etc. However all the original lighting wiring was removed back in the '90's and replaced with a single fuse for everything. There are 12 glass fuses under the bonnet doing nothing. Kept ...

Standard fusebox contacts

I don't know anything about SE5A fuses, but I'm currently looking at fitting an ex-Reliant-Reviver fuse and relay panel to 660XYB. I searched everywhere for fuse contacts, with no luck, but found this supplier, who supplies relay and fuse contacts for the assembly shown. The fuse contacts are a mm o...

What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

Hi Guy, The early Bentley turned up shortly before I left, sorry to have missed you. This was the other photo I took on Monday, just to show how busy it was at Phoenix Green; this is the A30 towards Basingstoke. I can imagine that it won't be long before the Police will step in. Phoenix_1.jpg Lookin...

Exhaust & Manifold(s)

To support Phil's explanation, I have a copy of the old paperback "Scientific Design of Exhaust and Intake Systems", mostly Manchester University research I think. It says that the scavenging is beneficial with the two 3-cylinder arrangement as each wave pulse benefits the adjacent cylinders; no cro...

Dash switches

Now manufactured from unobtainium?
Have you tried this old chap, although the switches you are after might be too recent for him. :)
Only kidding, he has loads of NOS and ex-car boot sale stuff, worth giving a ring but it is often hard to get an answer as he's out a lot.
Good luck with the quest.

This one isn't a Scimitar, although there was a white D-reg SSI there, wish I'd photographed it as well.

Scimitar Axle Rebuild and LSD Upgrade

I googled for the TR4 manual for my front suspension, , it includes a section on the diff, shows how to do it, I've also seen Salisbury instructions on the web somewhere. My mate rebuilt his Stag diff, where it says you need a "spreader" to push apart the two halves he reckoned you only need to move...

cvh specialist - Engine swap advice needed?

IMO I think you should replace the jubilee clip with proper fuel line clips, which have "rolled" edges to avoid weakening the fuel line by the sharp edges jubilee clips have.
