Re: Harpboys Black Beauty Body Off Chassis Rebuild

Steve, Forgot to ask but where did you source the blade fuse box from? Luckily I still have the original cover, one of the reasons for committing to buy my project was that it was not heavily modified apart from tubular manifolds and had sat in hibernation for almost 13 years. Just a shame its Celti...

Re: Harpboys Black Beauty Body Off Chassis Rebuild

Steve

That is a really elegant solution, and a great way to improve on the old glass type fuses.

Will add to my mod list, and will keep an eye out for anyone breaking a 6A who I can get that part off the loom from

Re: Lukeyboy's GTC

The Reinz ones sold by Burton's amongst others, were the original OEM supplier for Ford so you should be safe with those on a standard engine rebuild.

Re: Lukeyboy's GTC

I also had a "foreign object in eyeball Mk1" last week, but it was a drop of brake fluid from the clutch circuit. Made me release how lacking my garage was in medical supplies, soon reminded by a trip to screwfix. Now have a wall mounted eye bath kit just in case..... Always telling everyone else to...

Re: Removing rubbing strips.

Or try spraying WD40 at one corner once you have started to lift off the strip from the adhesive tape, working your way along.

Slow and a bit messy bit will work without damaging the paint underneath.

Re: Spraying metallic cellulose

The likes of the ebay paint sellers sell two types of cellulose metallic, 'gloss' and the seemingly more common 'requires top coat lacquer' so house points to piman and AJL ;-) In truth you can order solid colors in a COB system as well (clear over base) as well as metallic finishes that require a ...

Re: My progress with rust.....

The bumper bolts were a nightmare to get out, and they were obviously original, even though it had a £5000 re spray in the 90s. For that sort of money I would expect every window and grommet out, let alone the bumper! I took out the heater fans, ground off the old remains of the rubber mounts.........

Re: Lukeyboy's GTC

Hi, I had the same issue re the inside rear seat mounting bolt as you recently. As its so recessed, I ended up tugging on the seat sufficiently to pull the bolt up through the fiberglass floor. As there was only a small washer on the bolt, the damage to the floor is minimal, and I'll be reenforcing ...

Re: Body Off Question Se6a

Thanks Jim if only I could extend the current garage height and length wise I'd be a very happy bunny.

If anyone from the South Coast (Chichester/Portsmouth) area stumbles across this thread and knows of reasonably priced secure storage for a fully clothed body shell please PM me.

regards

Re: Body Off Question Se6a

how high is your roof? :-) High enough that I was able to suspend the main tub from a TVR Taimar and still work around the chassis (say 7ft ish). If I had the shell touching the roof on a dolly, I think I could still work on the chassis, but still don't see any obvious way of getting round the widt...

Body Off Question Se6a

Hi, I'm nearing the point of my SE6A dis-assembly where I need to give careful consideration to how/where I store the body (single garage). Off site storage down here on the South Coast is a very expensive - last resort option. :( I'm pondering the idea of transferring the body to a wooden dolly wit...
