Thanks and goodbye

Well my Scimitar was picked up today and has gone North to York. Unless I can pick up a fully restored 5a sometime in the future I somehow think my Scimitar ownership is over as I no longer have the energy or inclination to be crawling under cars, just want to do the odd bit of fettling now and then...

Couldn't be bothered

Love this advert, you would have thought for £150,000 you could be a bit more descriptive 'minotaur auto' really is that it

Just out washing the 5, young lad (early 20's) walking past says 'Love your car, it's really cool'. Style has no age :)

Ah, that explains that then. I was rather hoping someone was doing something radical to a scimitar but keeping the roof line, one of my favourite design features of the car.

looks as if another scimitar bites the dust

If you look at the 3 photos there seems to be the remains of a 5 in the background. The company specializes in fiberglass kit. looks as if the base and the roof have been kept, maybe a radical modification.

Re: Good or Appropriate Number Plates

A number plate that was for sale for £350 but I couldn't have because my car was to old rather annoyingly was V8 MXS, I had a MX5 with a V8 in it. An embarrassing plate I did have which had been spaced to highlight by previous owner , was HIV PT, used to get a few comments about that one, usually 'y...

Lack of decent 5/5a's

Before getting my 5 I was looking for about a year for a decent 5, had to be manual with overdrive, and nothing came up. I ended up settling for a good condition car that needs work, in fact I've not seen anything better since and I spend a lot of time looking through ads for classic cars (bit of an...

Re: Vinyl wrap

Basically not a good idea then, actually some interesting points I hadn't thought about. Back to plan A then, working my way round the car sorting the various problems out and then re-spraying it myself. That's if can find the time, in the meantime just tell people to look at it from about 10' away,...

Vinyl wrap

Just been watching an old episode of wheeler dealers and they used vinyl wrap, so I was wondering if anybody has used it on their 5 or any other fibreglass vehicle. I know to do a good spray job on a 5 is quite expensive and I've also seen cars which haven't been done long developing faults, which i...

Re: Brooklands - New Year's Day 2015 (Pic Heavy)

Good meet and good to put faces to names. Pete's twin turbo 5 very nice and had my brain going into overdrive for a while, but when I got rid of my last car I vowed no more engine mods, so I'll just stick to my plan of getting my car more presentable. Think I should make a new years resolution to st...

Re: 2 problems on my scimitar

Had the same problem with the wipers earlier this year, drivers side wiper box had virtually seized, so bought two replacements off ebay. Bit of a fiddly job. Quite surprised the motor could still move the wiper arms the box was so tight. Stripped the motor and put new brushes and grease in whilst I...

Slight miss when car is warm

Have noticed that when I've driven my car for about 45mins or so the car develops a slight miss, especially noticeable in third gear for some reason. The car starts and runs perfectly other than this. Any thoughts, I thought fuel line getting to hot and getting vapour locks. If it is that how do you...
