Scimitar in classic car magaines

I'm not sure, but from memory I think the Capri was blue. They were featured on front cover; can't recall which classic mag it was as I was in Whsmith and they sell quite a few classic car magazines in there. I've checked out Practical Classics, but it's not that, and I don't think it's Classic & Sp...

Scimitar in classic car magaines

Was browsing through a few classic car mags the other day (can't recall exactly which ones, think one was Classic Cars) and there was a GTE 6a featured on the front cover as part of a main article, head to head with a Ford Capri. Reading the article, at one point i mentions something along the lines...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

I don't like that colour either. There's some crackin looking colours for Scimitars, but there is also some god awful colours too. Down to personal choice I suppose. If that's all the 6bs go for then its not worth getting out of bed for :) Come on, why aren't these models selling for more than 1 or ...

Red GTC on the M6

Spotted a red GTC with black roof (roof was up) on the M6 this afternoon around 5:15pm heading north (Preston bound). Was followed not far behind by a dozen or so other classics such as an Austin Healey 3000, Rolls Royce, a blue and white Austin Metropolitan, and a yellow Jensen Interceptor. I highl...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

How do you know that 6b for sale needs a respray just by looking at those photos?. And I thought the 6bs from 81 onwards (though from what I've read wasn't continuous) were galvanised?.

I suppose the 6bs generally go for around that figure without an MOT, so maybe I'm asking too much for the car.

SE6b wiper blades wanted

Hi,

I am looking for a set of wiper blades for a GTE SE6b as the ones currently on the 6b I have are broke (the rubber has split from the blade).

Anyone have a good pair for sale?

Price guide for GTE SE6b

Speaking of blistering on Scimitars, I noticed one of the Middlebridge Scimitar's that's for sale seems to have its fair share of blistering despite the £12,000 price, quite a lot from what I could tell, and some quite large In places. I can't imagine it deterring interest though.

Price guide for GTE SE6b

It's certainly not a spares/repairs car. Plenty of classics get sold and auctioned and they have no MOT and have been sat in a dusty barn for 20 plus years, yet still find a buyer who's silly enough to part with their 40 grand, say a rusty E-Type for example. People go mental when a Middle bridge co...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

I've almost given up hope trying to sell the 6b I have for sale. Despite the overwhelming enquiries about the car I've only had one who's viewed so far, and the offer he gave was, shall I say, disappointing. He seemed a person who knew Scimitar's inside and out. I had another arranged viewing who wa...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

I'm actually in favour of keeping them running and enjoying them for what they're meant for, which is to be driven. I hate it when there so many overly prestine, super show looking classics out there that just attend the odd show or meet yet never get used for what they were originally intended for,...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

I think Scimitars are great cars and are great value compared to other classics which are known to be complete rust buckets. I've mentioned the possibility of rising values to people who are familiar with the model and they state they don't think they will rise. Scimitars were fetching more or less ...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

Some good points. In my view, I think the reason why owners are selling their GTEs lower than what they're should be is because no one is going to buy the thing if it's not within a certain price range, ie £1500-2500. Most owners cant wait around forever trying to find someone who's willing to part ...

Price guide for GTE SE6b

Does anyone have an idea of the price guide for the SE6b model?. I know the 5a and 6a generally range from a few hundred (project or resto, spares repair), to a decent condition with abit of TLC (around £1000 to £1800), then one in good order but not concourse (£2,000 to say £3,000), then fully rest...

Strong oil smell and smoke from engine

I'm wondering if anyone knows what could be causing the strong smell of oil or petrol that appears to be emanating from the engine on a 6b GTE I have. It was my dads car and when it was on the road, after only a few minutes driving, a very strong persistent smell could be smelt particularly when the...
