Engine lifting

Before I break anything, I would just like to check - I want to lift the engine & gearbox out of my SE6A, I have read that a plate on the carb base flange is the way to go; is that really strong enough? Something fabricated from angle-iron? once lifted, does the unit hang at the correct angle, or do...

inconsistant starting or consistant non starting!

You are not alone! I currently have my old starter-motor drying out on the stove while the missus is out for the evning. I'll be OK as long as I remember to remove the offending part and substitute the hot-pot for supper! :D

inconsistant starting or consistant non starting!

Your fuel-feed systemsounds exactly like mine (SE6A) with similar pump & filter;I also have the Hall-effect distributor. Mine's a very old, tired engine with low compression, but it starts perfectly every time, hot or cold, provided I keep the battery well charged. The only difference I can discern i...

GRP or wood ?

I saw one of those "wooden" reproductions at a show last summer. It wasn't wood at all, it was a cleever film-wrap job over a metal body. A guy in the Jura sells the film pre-printed with almost any effect you could want, including Denim or carbon-fibre.

Air pollution

As we go into the New Year, wondering about the future of our beloved internal combustion engines, here is a Pearl of Wisdom from one of the world's leading politicians: "It isn't pollution that's harming the environment. It's the impurities in our air and water that are doing it.." --Al Gore, Vice ...

Set like that, the passenger door looks exactly like mine. There's no way I can get the bottom edge to fit flush, the moulding is simply not accurate. I agree with Mark's comment.

Squeaky rubber

Silicone spray also works , sometimes sold for treating squeaky drive-belts. Its also good for stopping your doors freezing shut in extreme weather.
