Engine lifting

Thanks everybody for your input. Wow! What a long discussion! I shall be using a vertical hoist and rolling the car; I have tubular manifolds bolted on ,not studded, so I shall probably go with the back-to-back brackets on the carburettor base. I have a spare inlet manifold, just in case. All that i...

A bit of Norfick!

A bit of Norfolk humour, courtesy of Keith Skipper's FB page - I think it applies to most of us! : Charlie mastered joined-up writing and sums to get a useful job in a Swaffham office. One day he went to the boss and said: “I hev three companies arter me and I would like tew ask for a pay rise”. Aft...

V6 Coupé engine mounts/brackets

Hi James, apart from the angle of the propshaft(which should not be critical), need to check whether changing the height of the gearbox makes it foul the tunnel.

Battery chargers

I've had two of the American equivalent of a CTEK for four years. The important feature is the pulsed charge, which gradually reduces as the battery level reacches maximum, so no over-charging with loss of electrolyte. Both my classic cars live connected to these all winter. The battery in the Mini ...

Musical octopus

A guy walks into a bar with an octopus. He sits the octopus down on a stool and tells everyone in the bar that this is a very talented octopus. So talented that he can play any musical instrument in the world. He hears everyone in the crowd laughing at him, calling him an idiot, etc. So he says that...

Se6a wiper box access

Yes you can just take the wipers off, then pull out the cable. I have just done that a few weeks ago. It's a good idea , when the cable is out, to turn the spindles 180 degrees so that the new cable will run on an unworn part of the wheels. As for an access panel, I can't answer that one except to p...

Trying to start...after a year or two

After standing around all that time, I'll bet most electrical junctions and connections are oxidised, maybe even corroded - especially the earth connections. Recent conversations on here have been talking about the importance of the distributor being earthed, especially the base-plate and the carrie...
