Other one I used to do was jack one side up at the back, chock the front wheels, start it in 2nd and do the clutch brake operation.

All of the above have worked for me in the past.

Remember that you will be transferring the heat focal point further down the system.
Plus moisture can be trapped under the wrap

It needs reverse wound wire to hold it in position too .
Do it with manifolds off .
2 packs of 50mm should do it

That plate is often bolted in position.
Personally never had a problem removing the regulator and then dropping the glass into the bottom of the door
