Corky's Scimitars (....currently sprint car fettling )

I think the wear of the "Wotsit" if that's the bit or rubber at top of quarterlight is non-essential. It's all to do with does the window glass seal up against the rubber seal of the hard/soft-top I've had old and new "Wotsits" and really the difference in Zilch. Glass needs to close against rubber ...

TD's Daily Ti thread - renewed mojo!

Update on Tappets etc. Still hear an occasional odd sound every now and then when cold, like HT misfire as well as continual high tappet noise. Modified the dial gauge support to provide better alignment to measuring direction, better fixing and less flexibility and reset tappets as cold. Subsequent...

Or drill deeper and extend the thread and use longer stud. That would be my first choice. Even if you drill through to inside, you can seal the thread.

Corky's Scimitars (....currently sprint car fettling )

Just examined the original pipe removed from the car (Original fitted by Reliant) and it has no restriction at all, about 1/8 in inside dia all along. (I thought it was leaking and replaced it by one from QRG, but subsequently found the oil was coming from the distributor cap... sorry for thread hij...

I suggest then that you do a bit if investigation into that.
The original oil feed pipe does have a brass restrictor in it. From memory 0.5mm though hole.
Which end has the restrictor? I have modified mine and may have lost it (the hole...)

Rear lights

In the Action this week (in NL..) they are selling dual side/indicator LED lights that would fit an SS1. Curved so not perfect, but at 6.75 a pair and then use 2 pairs to fill SS1 gap, would be fine. Is Action a shop active in UK? Rear lenses are Capri, so difficult/expensive to find. Probably only ...

Timing's a funny thing and to me the manufacturers/control systems never seem to get it right - How come? I made an error recently on the Ti and used the 20 degrees mark for the timing instead of the 15 mark. In town, at low revs (below 3500) it was fantastic, so much more alert and responsive, but ...

I assume steering knuckle is the ball joint at end of track arm. These are readily available from parts suppliers but I don't have a part no. Reference small engined opel Kadett C. I've sent pm re master cylinder.

1800 Ti rocker cover bolt/washer orientation

Just reset the tappets and wondered about the fancy metal/rubber washers on the screws fastening the rocker cover: metal face up or down? I finally decided on metal face down, but as they have a metal sleeve around the bolt which will prevent overcompresssion, maybe it should be rubber face down? Di...

Unique ? SS1

Like the headlight conversion :) :) :) is it documented anywhere? I don't think so - all I remember is the owner saying it was a lot of trouble and he probably wouldn't have done it if he'd known. I agree it looks good though. :) Having said that, bearing in mind that it's a complete rework, unless...
