Installing relays in a 5a

Peters excellent wiring diagrams are here . To install a relay, the cable . Great Jim. Maybe even add the icing by putting the corresponding terminal numbers on the bottom two drawings. I have another circuit drawing of a comprehensively relayed Scimitar that I was thinking about (one of our other ...

Installing relays in a 5a

I believe that there are some circuit diagrams on this website somewhere but can't see where they have been put.....probably Peter Freeman's excellent coloured ones.

Springs, Dampers and Bushings

DSCF1033.JPG DSCF1032.JPG These photos show the spacers. The first shows the surface that goes against the bush. The ID is 1/2 inch to take the 1/2 inch UNF bolt. The OD of the bits that stick up are 5/8 inch and they push fit in the chassis brackets 5/8 enlarged holes. I would think that the only ...

Using van winter tyres on a Scimitar?

I found four new Fulda 195/70 R14 winter tyres shipped to my address @ £200. Seems pretty good value to me, and I'm sure we will be grateful should we encounter snow during our travels - whether in the Netherlands, Germany or Denmark... Are they H speed rated or the 91T I see on one site for that m...

Do the Part numbers/ remarks column provide useful information?

jpwill7675......you would be advised to get the CD of the Reliant workshop manual and spares list + service bulletins. Very useful even though it misses out some of the "how you do it" processes that a mechanic of the day would have been expected to know and would have been taught as basic skills. I...

Do the Part numbers/ remarks column provide useful information?

Hi - my engine rebuild is coming on slowly and I am enjoying the process (mostly) I am just about to refit the intermediate plate, the clutch and connect the engine and gearbox on the bench. I seem to be missing some bolts. If I look at the parts exploded diagram, I can see for example I should hav...

J overdrive plug tool

Referring to plug tool L354A for removing pump, filter etc. plugs. www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/jod/JOD2/JOD2.htm shows a tool made up to do the job. Can anyone give the dimensions:- 1. Diameter of metal disk (with square 3/8" ratchet hole) 2. thickness of that disk 3. Size of roll pins 4. hole...

Polybush longevity

My info is certainly pre 2008 from the folder they sent with info on bushes available for GTEs.
Have you spoken to them about your findings? It would be very interesting for us all to hear what they say.

What oil in SE5a 3 rod gearbox - alternative to SAE80?

MGs used engine oil in their overdrive boxes. I’m not convinced that the overdrive will be totally happy with 20/50 - pressure settings seem to be different for one running 20/50 and one running EP80 based on the little bit of info I could find when looking at the LH overdrive when used in a BGTV8 ...

Polybush longevity

I had to replace a lower wishbone on the SS1. Looking at the one I removed which was fitted in 2012, and pressing the inner steel tube out as a matter of interest, I was surprised to see how "dry" the surface of the stainless steel tube and Poly Bush had become. The silicone grease had completely v...

What oil in SE5a 3 rod gearbox - alternative to SAE80?

In my gearbox/overdrive I have been using 75W/90 GEAR oil from the late Alan Dean's brothers company; but he is no longer able to sell directly to club members due to a contract with a supplier firm (have been unable to find anyone who stocks the new logo supplier). I have also been adding the AFMT ...
