Re: se5a owner in Norfolk

It's is red yes, well it is where it isn't faded or flaking! Unsure if it was advertised on ebay, I noticed it through an advert on a car selling Facebook page. It's going to be an interesting and fun resto I hope. I haven't played with carbs and distributors in 15 years in my apprenticeship days, ...

Re: Poor service from Carole Nash

Same happened to me a few weeks ago. I actually put up a similar kind of thread on another well known forum and got the usual 'ya didn't read da small print' from the usual suspects of self appointed anal 'moderators'. The point was actually lost on them TBF, It wasn't a case of me arguing ag...

Re: DVLA crackdown

Much of this 'crackdown' and any future legislation will, I suspect, depend more on whether we remain part of European Union or not. Much of the current proposals based around what is or isn't 'Historic' is more Euro psycho babble bullsh*t that has more in common with whether cucumbers are straight ...

Re: DVLA crackdown

I suspect that the Land Rover community will be most affected by this too. Ive lost count of the sheer number of them that are clearly not what they are registered as. Ive seen Series 3s registered as Series 2s and even 80s tin with pre 73 number plates. Totally ridiculous. You cant blame the DVLA r...

Re: Running temp to high or paranoia

I have had similar with a couple of 6s and have found that it was a bit of air in the system. I know that sounds a bit simplistic but its happened to me because expelling every bit of air out can be 'the mother of all battles' Ive had to do that more than once, infact whenever I have worked on the c...

Re: Is there a cure?

I don't own one now, have itches to scratch and all that BUT I still have this forum in my favourites and I still love Scimitars.
Out of every car ive ever owned its the Scimitars that I keep ending up back with.
Says it all.

I could be wrong but I thought that the Astra TD Radiator was a seriously good fit and superior to the standard one?

Re: Replacement seats

I have to say that, with the last 6A I had, the previous owner had refurbed the seat bases with new webbing and the like. I don't think I have sat in more comfortable seats, the difference between the refurbed base and all of the other Scimitars I had owned with seats naturally worn was remarkable. ...

Re: More pedal travel after brake M/C rebuild

I realise that lots of people use self bleed kits but I still swear by two humans bleeding brakes as opposed to one. I had a similar problem with my Lotus, shockingly bad brakes that I had supposedly been all done prior to my purchase. I spent nearly an hour bleeding them, daughter on the brake peda...

Re: Lotus Owners.

Ive got a 1991 Lotus Excel Hethel Celebration. I love it. Nice ! There was one of those for sale on the Excel forum when I was originally looking. Racing green IIRC. Had mine over a year now. I believe they made 35 in said green and 5 in calypso red, a stonking colour. Excels are way undervalued li...

Re: clutch slave replacement

Hello everyone, how's the storm your way? My slave cylinder has had it, beyond refurbishment with a pitted bore and stuck nipple. Anyone have experience of these : http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/390631942630?nav=SEARCH Or are there better/cheaper options? Bowing to your expertise, Duncan I could have swor...

Re: SE6 window regulators, manual

I think you will find that Allegro ones are ALMOST identical.
IIRC, the allegro one is a tad shorter and, I think, I ended up creating a good one out of that and the existing Scimitar one.

They will, seen it done before, with some work but, really, see if you can source some better originals.
