I put the jump lead back onto the alternator body and everything works perfectly. Can't understand h...

Alternator Not Charging

I can't see it on the wiring diagram but I'd assume if it was at fault, I wouldn't have continuity between the alternator terminal and the light bulb?

Alternator Not Charging

Just wondering if anyone can work out what's wrong with the charging system on my Coupe. It's been converted from dynamo to alternator. It won't charge at all, the voltage at the battery and out the back of the alternator with the engine running is barely 12V. The ignition light doesn't work at all ...

Sorry, I forgot to PM you. I cleaned it up and zinc sprayed it but only bench bled it before getting the other to work. If you'd like it back as a spare then I'll bring it to Anglesey but if not I'll give you the money for it :)

1.4 K series MK2 Sabre boot lid hinge brackets

They're all the same but there are early and late hinges. They both fit, just later ones have a swage.
The best method is to remove the hinges, take the pins our and replace with a nut and bolt.

What were the mechanical issues in the end?

Are these two thingies the same basic thing or do the same job? IMG_20190409_190904.jpg A Google search suggested that the new one is a capacitor and I always thought the old one was a suppressor, but as I live in Cheshire, I'd like the new one. Neither could I when I just looked tbf. I thought I could remember Phil A saying a while ago that he hadn't found any the same and it was maybe worth having them made? Having said that, I can't remember what I did yesterday so I could easily be wrong.

Column top bushes are available from the suppliers.

If you mean the diff cradle, then that's bespoke. If you mean the rubber mounts, IIRC they're also bespoke and not available - they've been on the remanufacture request list for a while
