The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Having hunted the internet for the thrust washer, GM part number 90298202 is etched in my brain. I had to go with a new one at just shy of £50 (Autovaux were the cheapest). At least it came without the grooved mark I had on the original. Oil seal and thrust washer fitted, crank pulley torqued up, ti...

Any more pics of the GTM coupe to the right? That looks a lovely example. :)

What cars did you see today? (Non-Scimitar)

I popped into Wilson's Auctions today to see what's lying around to find the Daewoo Musiro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daewoo_Musiro concept car in a bad way. https://wxvexg-am3pap001.files.1drv.com/y4mC5mYVY4FKlEZJDufEyhN4EOfKunz40pDB1gLwx8v1TFCAW5np2geR4dWDy2PcAI3oHUZ48xCb2Q72oAp5xAyQQkI0eU-eVwe...

'A' post repair ? how structural ?

Roger has kindly linked to my repair of that section. That tube follows the line of the gutter from the back to the front, then 12" forwards along the top of the front wing. Hopefully the gutter and seal strip protected it from water ingress? Personally, I'd start by cleaning the cracked section wit...

The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

Thanks, Hugh. There's nothing to suggest it's worth doing the oil seal while in there. I think I just got unlucky. Any photos I've found online of the thrust spacer don't show a groove. I have the local Vauxhall breaker checking his stock, as a new one is £50!!! New crank pulley bolt ordered too. In...

The Beige Se5a : rebuild becomes Omega conversion

As for the pictures, I've downloaded them all so I can transfer them to OneDrive and host them from there. I've dived back in to look at the crankshaft oil seal. At least the access is good. With a home-made locking tool as suggested by Haynes, the bonnet removed and a 4 ft piece of box section over...

GTE hidden on ebay

Darned odd how some people list an item without actually including what it is!!
Then again, shrewd buyers hunt those out for a bargain.

Sorry I'm late. You do yourself an injustice, Sir. That's a rather lovely engine installation.

Snow socks

Looking into snow-socks a few months ago I came across Michelin composite snow-chains e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLvIm51gaes They're around £50 , and you need to pick from the different tyre size ranges. I gambled on a set on eBay, not knowing if they'd fit, but winning them at £10 I'll not...

It's cold and dark by the time I get home, and I've long since stopped dabbling with cars of an evening. So while the wife watches something on TV, I'm in the same room but surfing car forums, and searching daily the online ad websites for my very short-list of desirable cars. All while I have a lis...
