The adventures of Tom Thumb the daily driver

Saw your car on the ramp at QRG last saturday (just making my usual monthly pilgrimage to the mecca of scimmy parts). Just had to have a peek. I must say it looks very smart. Your new wheels really suit the car. I can see why you plan to keep the car.I hope you have many years of happy motoring with...

Ians GTC rebuild. Now the work begins

Quick update. Im empting boxes at a great rate. New uprated fan from QRG fitted as the old one didnt take too kindly being cleaned... the end plate had corroded away. Radiator & fan connected up (and running the right way) along with a trial fit of the new silicone hoses, now its time to turn to the...

Ians GTC rebuild. Now the work begins

Had a day off yesterday at the Restoration show, getting those essential bits that were needed( Im sure Barbara will argue that point, but I needed that 1/4" drive torque wrench and that smart timing light) So today got stuck in and had quite a productive day. Battery on next and crank the engine ov...

Bumper trim

I am after both left and right side aluminium trim panels ( part no 211529 and 211530) for the rear bumper on the GTC. Mine are really badly pitted when they were cleaned up.

My aim is the end of May. No particular event in mind I just want to see it in one piece and drive it. The trimmer is desperate to see finished as he want to put pictures of the interior on his website. I just need to get some bits back from the powder coaters and the caps on the door cards back fro...

It wouldnt have worked with the cylinders heads on here. Just didnt have enough height using the lift in the garage. I couldnt fit the water pump either as it protruded 5mm too much ( I measured everything before I started. Didnt want to get it jammed in). Best thing though was not damaging the pain...

Its in. Engine went in without any major problems.I did have help from my neighbour who I think enjoyed it.In fact it lined up a bit too easy.....Im worried. With the car lift giving me plenty of clearance it made light work of it. Couldnt have done it without the lift. Proving money well spent. It ...

Now we have a free long week-end decided to go all out and re-fit the engine and gearbox. Rather than risk damaging the new paintwork, going to fit it from underneath. Thankfully I have plenty of height to push the engine under. As is typical with the weather it looks like it is about to throw it dow...

For sale on ebay - 6b with MB wheels and 2.9i engine

I wondered why you'd posted it in the MB section but clicking on the advert I see why..moved to the "Ebay and other Sales Links" section. Oops. Clicked when I should have scrolled. Seems a lot of work has gone into it in the past though with the engine. I wonder how long it has been just sitting th...
