Using Heavier Oil for the Axle

Would a tube of 'Transmission Molyslip' help?......I have it in my axle &, although it doesn't do anything for 'backlash,' am sure that it is quieter than it would otherwise be & I feel a sort of reassurance in extra protection in case of loss of oil....I use the GL4 Comma EP80/90w (I think it is......

G'day from Australia

Welcome, good choice of car!! If you plan on doing a lot of work, then IMO it is worthwhile starting a project thread. I didn't, and when I want to look back on replies etc I can never remember where to find them. Regards.. ...Or even if you don't plan on doing a lot of work - like Philip I have no...

SE5A SE London

I am friendly with neighbors and often help them with cars and they don't mind me tinkering with this and my daily which is a '82 Volvo 240, they just laugh at all the cars I drive as everyone has flashy euroboxes. ...Isn't that the Volvo that 'Luther' uses to smoke around London in? Probably deeme...

Do TR6 drums fit GT/GTE with Girling rears? - Sorted!

I sold a set of Wolfies to an Austin Cambridge owner once, never thought about the brakes being the same? A few years back I sold a set of 5 GTE 'steelies' via ebay auction to someone who was going to fit them to one of the venerable BMC Farina saloons, apparently. I remember with annoyance because...

SE5a bump stops

...Do I vaguely remember the SE5 'bumpstops' being shared with some other Reliant model - one of the 3-wheelers rings a bell..................or have I dreamt it?? :? Dear owd Big Sis has soldiered on without any ever since she's been back on the road (..back end of 2008)...... I can remember that s...

1974 5a on Ebay

Crikey! Reading all the aforementioned makes me wonder how I ever got my dear owd gal recommissioned at all.......or the Herald. They were professionally brought back to life on a very meagre budget which re. the SE5 meant quite a long period of teething problems. That said, as far as the cooling sy...

heater control knobs

Ford Zephyr mk3. I don't know if they were fitted to anything else as well? https://www.flickr.com/photos/john_64/9561267117/ ...The interior door 'pulls' (handles) look vaguely familiar, as well... :) ...Is my SE5 the only one to have round knobs, I wonder - sorry haven't got a piccy to hand; coul...

When, during 5a production, did the 2-rod 'box change to the later 3-rod type?

scimitar se5a man o/d 74 only appx 15k miles

Thanks for the appreciation, Tony - glad to hear the air filter is going back on. That battery does look like a full-blown retro jobbie (which, I presume are super-expensive...) The car looks what it is; a low-mileage, unrestored but carefully looked after example........no pink rocker covers, no 'C...

The day the earth stood still

It really is an amazing website.......Who on earth has taken all that time to collate all that information about what vehicle appeared in what celluloid production - it's mind-boggling!

A 'concours' DB5 Volante for less than two grand - that would have taken care of someone's old age, financially-speaking!!
