1982 GTC project gumtree

Goodness I hadn't even thought about body-colour bumpers, I think the black ones are so much a part of the big Scimitar look that I'll just stay with them.
Good point Ronnie about B post covers - do you have any going spare at all?

Work has pretty much come to a stop just now until the car goes off to the painter. I'm quite fancying this colour at the moment, called Kaikura Stone no less, subject to seeing anything better of course - IMG_0539.JPG Try to imagine it on a GTC. Now, should the B pillar be body colour or black? The...

Thanks Jim.
Starlocks are the things I was looking for, a look in eBay's ironmongery section shows star washers are those shakeproof washers usually on electrical studs.

What's the 'proper' name for those little spring ring things that fasten the double switch panels on a 6a dash? And - has anyone found a way of securing the autobox lever surround so that it doesn't flop around when the lever is moved? The plastic sockets that the pins are supposed to fit in don't s...

Just for Monty and his bretheren

A woman living in Aberdeen phoned in to the P&J (the local paper) to post a death notice for her late husband. It read “Peter Reid fae Peterheid is deid”. That was it, so the customer sales rep at the P&J said that she was allowed up to nine words for the same cost. So she started again, “Peter Reid...

Front seat belt stalk GTC

I found two openings beside the stalk on mine and levered the bottom (opposite the button side) off with a flat screwdriver. Two clips at the stalk end and a tongue next the button. Mine might be different to yours of course, I don't have any little square openings! Found that the two little posts t...

Ronnie - yes it dives under the GRP at the door and runs along the lip for the seal and comes out again behind the door, stops just in front of the rollbar/belt mount. It must be a bit of strengthening (side impact? :) Dennis - your drawings were very helpful in giving me the courage to start the sw...

I have a folder of background reading on Scimitars (Autobooks manual, old road tests, restoration guide) that I don't need. Yours for postage, I guess a fiver or so.

Looks like I've found how to post pics, sorry it's 90deg. out.. Going back to the posts about the damp plywood in the footwell walls I think I've found the leak - IMG_0593.JPG if you can see the little blue dot away down there in the darkness, that's daylight from one of the holes (which I always th...
