There are buttons you can cover yourself. Have a search. I can remember my mum using them in the 50s......

Is it on the base, or the back? Base is easy, if you get it out of the car you'll find the ends of the string which holds the button in place, just untie and remove. You may need a new length of string as they're only just long enough (trimmed after installation) and so hard to re-tie. I haven't inv...

The rear seats are now installed, and I notice that the backs sit up straighter (less reclined) than on the SE6a. Is this a design feature to allow the hood to lie behind them I wonder, or have I got something else wrong?

Seat belt webbing

Has anyone renewed their seatbelts and not thrown them away? I need some webbing to repair a GTC hood. 2 belts would do it...

Sorry that wasn't clear Dennis. Thanks for the tip about the door frames - I'll try to remember that when the time comes. I think I would have been inclined to fit the doors with the hardtop in place, on the basis that it's a fixed size and the soft top isn't !!

Got it, Peter thanks.

GTC Hood

This thread comes just at the right time as I've just installed mine for the first time! I still have a fold in the side windows, is that to be expected? I don't suppose some kind soul could supply a pic of the sun visor instructions? I don't have one and a local sign company says they could maybe p...

Thanks Steve, most helpful ideas. Got the whole hood in place today. Think it looks OK? The velcro's off the B pillars so excuse the lack of fit there - IMG_0624.JPG IMG_0622.JPG and got it folded under the stowage cover - IMG_0621.JPG Could somebody advise whether the tongues at the front of the ho...

The back of the hood is fixed. The strap buckles are quite thin and the fabric covers the gap reasonably well. I suppose I could grind a shallow recess to take them but I don't think I'll bother. Peter - Yes, I've ground down the bolt heads, thought of covering them with cloth tape but I don't think...

That's what I mean, the buckle will hold the frame (and so the hood) up clear of the body. Suppose it's a bit academic worrying about draughts in a convertible, at the end of the day!

Thanks for letting me know about the N/S mirror but on reflection - now that I've found out how to install XJS mirrors on a Scimitar I think I'll go that way.

The frame is now on IMG_0613.JPG although I still have to find a cunning way to join up the straps IMG_0615.JPG I've made up a rail to hold down the rear of the hood IMG_0616.JPG but now I realise that it won't fit tight to the body because the rear end of those ****** roof straps will be between it...

Jim I seem to have lost the place on your progress. Could you just post a wee update on whether you have an order already placed and waiting for delivery, or whether you've been put off the whole idea? I know you can't predict delivery timescales but since I'm in the next batch it would be good to k...

I got four Pioneer TS-G 1331i, mainly because they were cheapest on that popular auction site and with a name I recognised! Fit fine front and rear.

SE6/A/B/GTC/MB DRIVERS REMOTE MIRROR FOR SALE.

Got me confused already! I thought GTCs all had 'Esprit' type mirrors, or was that a luxury option? Anyhoo, if you're talking about a passenger side one to match the one in your photos then I'm interested. Could you PM me a photo of the minor dent? I need it for my SE6 which never had a passenger on...
