Stuck distributor

When I had this problem I got a crowbar under the wide part of the dist. body, resting on a nearby head bolt. Applied upward leverage and at the same time tapped gently on the other side of the dist.

SE6A centre exhaust hangers (O ring type)

In my penniless days I used to use slices of old radiator hose to hold the exhaust up. Didn't last any longer but free!

1982 GTC project gumtree

And we're back! I finally got up the courage to have a go at axle rebuilding and so far (20 gentle miles) it seems to have worked. You can read all the intimate details at http://www.scimitarweb.co.uk/sgwrs/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=39745 So I think that this is the end of the 'project' stage and the begi...

Asking about axles

Just to conclude the axle is now back under the car and I've gone about 20 miles (gently) with it and it seems OK so far. Not even noisy in Scimitar terms. Thanks for all the help and suggestions!

Challenging choke

Gee I'm cleverer than I thought!

turning it a/c has helped but it's still not quite right. Time for the lid off and blow through some jets I think.

Challenging choke

Afternoon All I'm having trouble with the autochoke on the GTC. It doesn't seem to be closing the choke flaps far enough, so that the engine isn't getting a rich enough mixture. This means that the revs die away until the antistall kicks in, then go up again. Makes for tricky manouevering in the gar...

Asking about axles

Just a small point - when replacing the hub bearings the housing for them is too deep, they should be left slightly proud of the case then finally pushed in to the correct place with the shims around them using the retaining plate and bolts. I took the liberty of leaving out a shim on one side to re...

Diff unit oil seal

Yes. Make sure the car is well supported as you will have to pull hard on the big nut to get the flange loose. Mark the position of the nut relative to the shaft as it has to go back in exactly the same place. You may need a puller to get the flange off. After replacing the seal tighten the nut to i...
