Thanks Peter,
That’s what I thought but I wanted to cover all the bases. Will restart as Sun has arrived.

Just doing some more investigation but April shower stops play. The two control wires going in to the alternator are brown the other brown/yellow. One is 12v live with ignition off. Both are 12v live with ignition on. IMG_3501.jpg Will double check which way around these are so I get the colours cor...

Human v Engine

I agree with Jim, such "accidents" should be preventable and not just with boring process.

The physical damage to human assets is definitely what they should be more concerned about. Think about the revenue potential they'd lose if you moved elsewhere.

Hope you're ok very soon.

From the wiring diagram the alternator is connected to the battery via the starter (solenoid?) so it can only really be the alternator not working, unless the wire from the alternator to the battery is broken? Not sure how the ignition lamp is controlled, but if the ignition switch gets power from t...

I'll have to check in the morning as it started pouring with rain and the car is outside. I saw it generating 14 volts on the test bed, so assume it's still doing so, but will measure in the morning.

It comes on when you turn the key on and goes out when the engine starts as you would expect.

Sabre Charging Challenge

The red Sabre didn't appear to be charging its new battery. With the car running and a voltmeter across the battery terminals you could see the voltage slowly decreasing from 12.5v to 12.49, 12.48 and so on. Removed the alternator yesterday and had it reconditioned. Refitted this afternoon and.........

Simon's SE5 Restoration

Hi Simon, Looking at that marked bore there also seems to be some pitting as well, unless it’s just the picture? I had an Essex block that had a porous bore that had rusted from the water jacket into the cylinder. Pictures show what was revealed after first run of the boring machine. IMG_3657.jpg IM...

A bit like these? Replaced the Mexico arches with reconstituted Coupe arches cut, stretched and widened to cater for the 4HA.

Ebay Fees, how much ??

Setting up a classified on eBay is the best method and it's there for 28 days for a single fee.

It's not as obvious as it should be to select the classified option, but it is on there.
