XRF 976H ex Reliant press car

Great work Paul and thanks for posting. Can I ask what cutting implements you used on the various surfaces and joins to get such clean edges? I've recently done the strengthening in the sills of a coupe but cut them out from below using discs on a dremel which works fine, but the next body needs the...

Classic Restoration Show - NEC - March 22nd -24th

I was there opposite the Jowett stand and their team was amazing.
Show was quieter than before but still many interested, interesting and knowledgeable people.
Saw Mike, Speedy and Dave Peek. Not sure the show would be sustainable in future if the traders don't get the footfall?

Flywheel balancing.

You could speak to TTV Racing: http://ttvracing.com/products/?manufacturers=ford&engine=ford-essex-v6&type=flywheels They have always been very helpful. Rotational balancing for a V6 is "usually" recommended. Changing to a TTV flywheel when I rebuilt my engine made a positive improvement in terms of...

In memory of Richard Vernon

Thanks for giving us the background Phil.
When people stop posting you don't always know why, but this is very sad news.
Thoughts and good wishes go to his family.
RIP Richard

What oil in SE5a 3 rod gearbox - alternative to SAE80?

I've used this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Smith-Allan- ... :rk:1:pf:0
It seems more than adequate and they have been helpful answering questions.

Brake fluid

My Toyota Altezza V8 uses a Saab concentric slave for the clutch connected to the original clutch master cylinder. We used Dot 5.1 in clutch and brakes as it's a track car and tends to get a trifle hot.... The slave cylinder seals kept dissolving in the Dot 5.1 and we removed the gearbox about 4 tim...

Speak to Quaife or Gripper: https://gripperlsd.com/product/salisbury-7ha/
Will cost you £1,300+ unless you can negotiate.....

Probably cheaper than a 4HA install.

Using van winter tyres on a Scimitar?

If you drive on van tyres in Germany and have an accident you will be prosecuted. Van tyres do not have the appropriate speed rating and proper snow tyres are essential. I wonder where you would stand then, two choices. Tyres with snow markings but Van tyres, or non van tyres but no snow markings? ...

Using van winter tyres on a Scimitar?

Anders, Think you've got a good deal for those tyres and they are a good price. On older vehicles that wore cross-ply tyres from new, it's not unusual to choose a van tyre to benefit from radial handling improvements, but get a similar profile to the cross ply. There is a huge price difference with ...
