As the gearbox bolts externally to the bell housing, is there enough room to get the gearbox out while leaving the bell housing in place. Looks tight but I'm sure I remember it being possible. Mind you having the right hand drive gearbox (in no.2) makes it easier than the left hand drive gearbox (in the later cars) to access to the clutch adjuster - is there an access panel on the other side as well ? Fortunately the cipher has a nice little access panel in the drivers footwell - clutch cable, speedo cable, gearstick, and rear engine mounts are all easily accessible. Ever since I’ve had the Cipher I’ve been unimpressed with the front drum brakes. While they worked OK they never really gave you the confidence they would stop you quickly in an emergency. They had also developed a strange habit of pulling to one side and then during a journey could either cure them...
