"I thought I'd just put the brakes together and drive it"...

Hi Mikey I have done around 25 conversions to the Lockheed hand brake and I can seriously endorse it. I think its probably a lot cheaper than any other " Upgrade" I have never come across the Disc brake conversion, but each to their own. The handbrake lever is very similar on the SE6 to the Se5 and...

Easiest and cheapest conversion is Lockheed. SE6a onwards, and should not effect the German MOT as it is still from a Reliant Scimitar. :!: True! Only worry: Wheel cylinders SE6a, what size are they? Will they fit 5a Girling brakes (single line vs dual line and unknown piston bores)? These are Dual...

Improving hand brake - ideas?

I dig this out after the years.... Was the solution to improve handbrake force finally to move the handbrake pulley turnbuckle one hole closer to the handbrake pivot? That would increase the force the hand brake can pull with but increase lever travel significantly I'd assume? My 5a has the same lev...

I had similar starting problems with my BMW 1200 GT - fine starting from cold but would not turn engine over when hot. Replaced battery but still the same problem! It then turned out that the lead from the battery to the starter was not up to the job, and could not deliver the current when the moto...

Hey Jim, Re Starter: I overhauled the starter halfway already, both the contact plates and the solenoid coil where out and cleaned. IIRC the starter had some issues when first using it to start the engine for tests in the chassis, but not entirely sure if this was just an electrical issue. Finally I...

SE5/a SPAX or GAZ coilover suspension road legal anywhere? Preferably Germany?

Gaz didn’t exist within the 10 years after 5a (or even Scimitar) production.. Marco over in Saarland purchased a set of Gaz (I brought them over for him when I was working near) but I don’t know if he got them fitted - or even if they were adjustable seat types or “direct replacement”? Marco had an...

SE5/a SPAX or GAZ coilover suspension road legal anywhere? Preferably Germany?

Good ideas :) But I think it isn't that easy... back then as i needed toregister the car in Germanyfor my wedding for "safety and timing Reasons" I left the old coilovers cleaned and painted in black in there. And although on damper was leaking heavily and definitly empty they accepted the H-Registr...

Princess Anne rim query

Hey guys....

found the nuts on eBay: Here they are... I bought those and they do fit the 15" Princess Anns on my Scimitar with 1/2" Wheelbolts.
Maybe worth a sticky? They are not exactly cheap but easier available and cheaper as handmade ones.

Jacking points

Hey guys. What do you do in emergency cases? The original scissor type jack cannot be put stabley under the main rails/tubes as it is not accessible to wind there. And the small hydraulic stem type life I carry doesn't lift the car high enough to lift the wheels of the ground... Any ideas for on the...
