For Guybetts: ref fitting 14W brush plate to 16W motor:- Having looked at it, it looks as if the spacers under the brush plate to raise the brushes up to be in line with the commutator need to be around 4 to 5 mm? I thought that the original screws might be a bit too short so tried to find out what...

Best SE5a I have ever seen!

Spotted it a couple of years ago at the White Hart, Hartney Witney. Nice car and good finish, but the owner wasn't that enthusiastic about the marque.

For Sale - 1983 GTC Auto with LPG Conversion (Previously Owed by Bill Sims)

Lots of GTCs with GTC numbers AIUI it's not the "GTC" that's so much significant as the number 381. Are there others bearing the build number of the car on the plate? This is the only one I can recall having heard about. Dave Peek's GTC is another that immediately comes to mind :) And I might find ...

Dennis, I rebuilt my 16W with parts from AES. It involved a bit of modification, mostly as the integral plug with the brush plate fixes differently than the original - but a cable tie and a bit of silicon sealant fixed that - see pics. Cologne camshaft gear change

Is there a quick way to see what wheel I've got? Like looking through the fuel pump 'ole on the Essex? Unfortunately no. It's behind the timing cover which in turn, houses the water pump. I recently acquired a "spare" block with no sump fitted - and that is probably the only way you can see the tim...

And if I'd searched before, I could have included the link to the sale post within this forum :?

Where do I look for a nice 6B / GTC

Depending what your budget is, I was made aware a couple of months back that the ex-Peter Misy, and ex-Bill Sims GTC was going on the market. It's a 1983 metallic silver-grey auto with galvanized chassis and has been converted to LPG. The price mentioned was £14k (I've not heard or seen that it has ...

Ians GTC rebuild. And now with MOT

Ian, my symptoms were more like a slipping clutch 😮 It was slow to change up and took quite heavy braking to hold it when coming to a stop (like it wasn't disengaging) Changing through the gears wasn't affected, i.e. drive to reverse, drive to 1 or 2 etc. All gears were working but with symptoms abo...

1/4 light seals

Yes, that's a pair (they are handed) and no it doesn't include the lower frame to door seal.
I've got them for the Coupe but not fitted yet...

Would that not require an Mot 😊
Does it if it's a historic modification?

There were V8 Scimitars around in the 80's and if they were correctly registered with DVLA with the cc and engine number, then surely that is historic evidence of the modification. Or did I dream that somewhere :?

Ian, I did exactly what Andy has described above (on his guidance) and confirm it is easy to do. Be aware that you can end up wearing a bit of ATF when removing the piston  , but aside from that it was simple. (I did it in situ) The only bit I struggled with was trying to remove excess fluid a...

Cosworth GTC

Cosworth GTC on another site I don't know if you have seen it Guy. Only on FB where I have commented. The registration number has been spotted before, and noted on a list of "unknowns". It could be one of those cases where it is on the register but the registration has been changed to LMB 481W. Or ...

I can have a look this week when passing if you want
That would be great if you could. Registration number - as it's been obscured - would be useful although confirmation of VIN would be ideal.

Please don't blame me if you make a purchase

By doing a series of 'sorts' on the GTC register, based on the advert details (which can always be onerous :o ), there is only one with details that match all the criteria - no.145. Now that is assuming it is known to the register of course :) A call to the trader I think, to find out details - unle...
