My midlife GTC

Is the nose support new or reconditioned? Reconditioned. A neighbour runs a business restoring air cooled VW's, so is a seasoned welder :D Hi Guy, Making progress at last, I see. Well done. I'm sure you'll get there in the end. Only got just under 3 weeks if I'm going to make it for Berks noggin Dr...

Progress with reassembly today. Nose support section went back in with little trouble - wasn't sure if it might need to be a two-man job. DSC_0194.JPG DSC_0196.JPG DSC_0197.JPG ARB isn't bent, just photo distortion :? Also re-fitted transmission oil cooler and horns. Need to sort out a bit of the wi...

I see Ashley Hinton are drinking Coffee this week rather than plain water.  Black coffee. I only got the cowling and grille from them. Other bits from various sources including NEC a couple of weeks ago :D Speaking of grille Mark, any update on the front mesh grille I pm'd about :) Guy

SE6b Steering coupling question

It's a big rubber donut coupling on some Coupe's, as used on Triumph 2000's

Was really shocked by the lack of punters? Come mid afternoon the stall holders outnumbered the visitors...very odd
Was there on Friday. I thought it was comfortably busy, but not over crowded. Only queued for the car park bus :D

Tony, that is the wiper motor fitted in my Straight Six coupe - with the square(ish) bodied motor housing.

Two speed and self parking. The motor on the straight six is a Lucas DR3 (iirc) Odd that your Sabre doesn't have a self parking motor, but perhaps it has something to do with its rally heritage. I would think the later motor fitted to the GTE's would be easier to obtain, and parts for them are more ...

Straight Six is the same too. Mine's exactly like yours Roy, only the numbers following the part number are 1 64 - which I take to be a manufacturing date code, for Jan 1964.

GTC No.1 for sale

Richard Carter knows the owner (or ex owner) of #001. He introduced me to him at Prescott but I didn’t get to see the car itself to confirm reg/VIN. There are some notes with the paper register that corroborate the details in the auction listing. Interesting that it has a 99 colour code for the ver...

Cynically, I assume this is so they can road test some of the driverless car technologies  Also, I was listening to the radio this morning and West Berks council are to increase the annual licensing cost for taxi's and in turn the cabbies were stating how they would pass on the cost to the pun...

Bought my Trico washer bottle 30 years ago from a trader at Beaulieu. It was in a box of at least twenty NOS :o How I wish I'd bought a few of them... I've also got door handles that were on my Coupe. Chrome isn't perfect. Again, I bought new ones years ago. I don't have the original keys so the loc...

660XYB Engine fix

The clutch is now 7/8 inch thick, face to face, in case anyone wonders how worn their clutch is. Just measured up my old clutch plate before contacting Nigel at QRG in response to his appeal on FB, and it's barely a 1/4 inch  Glad to see everything's going back together nicely Philip :D Guy
