Bogging at 4000 rpm

Hmm
On mine terminal 16 is a blue/black or black/blue BUT 5cm from the ECU it changes to a spliced brown (= -ve) and black (= +ve ????) wires
A bit confusing having black +ve and -ve in the same wiring circuit :W
No time to look further today ...

Bogging at 4000 rpm

Just had a quick look at the Ford diagram again.
In fact it is the green wire which goes to the coil (plus black from the ignition switch).
And they show a brown wire which goes to earth in place of the blue/black, so everybody was right .. er I think.

Interesting ... I do have a blue/black to the distributor (not the coil), and all the other colours in that connector check out with your diagram. As far as the coil is concerned the black/white wire from the fuel injection relay is plain black (or doesn't come from the fuel injector relay ...

Bogging at 4000 rpm

It checks out with the Ford 2,4 / 2,9 L V6 wiring diagram, but Ford were nearly as consistent as Reliant 8)

Bogging at 4000 rpm

I have spent hours testing connections and poring over wiring diagrams. The good news is that I finally understand the wiring, thanks to a Ford Germany wiring diagram (provided by Andy, many thanks!). I can confirm that the +ve feed is by black wires to terminals 37 and 57 on the ECU. Which come fro...

With the new system you can post pics direct, any size, either 'add files' or drag and drop.
At first it was a bit shaky but I think it's all sorted now.

Sounds reasonable, but please post pics!
Incidentally, I don't personally need another Scimitar project, two is enough ;-)

So of course I forgot to disconnect the battery today  I started and ran the car, the choke worked as intended but needs adjusting. Which I did a bit, then left it to cool several hours. Only of course the choke heater was still working. And I can tell you, thanks to my laser thermometer :wink...

This seems to work, road test booked for tomorrow 8) Just one heating element connected (guess which!) Some adjustment will probably be necessary but a first test was fine. Obviously can't do a second test until it cools down. If it is ok I will find a switched feed instead of the permanent live of ...

The idea of an electric choke is already ridiculous - which idiot had the idea of sticking a sensor in the water that when it heats sends an electric current to heat an element to turn a coil in the carburettor which operates the butterflies and opens the throttle  Difficult to think of anyth...

The bi-metallic coil closes the butterflies when it is cold. Both heating elements are glued to the body of the coil heater so have exactly the same effect, opening the butterflies. To what should the alternator permanent supply be connected? All looks original in my choke, I wonder if there's anyth...
