Windscreen transport Wiltshire-North

Alex, It is difficult to tell where the windscreen is from your post - "North of England or Scotland" is a very large area. And without a location in your signature also cant tell if the windscreen is in Wiltshire or up north. Can you be more specific about the location(s)? And timescale? More (and ...

New Shocks and Bushes

I have ordered new front shock absorbers from SPAX for my 1978 SE6a (standard suspension setup as far as I know). SPAX say that "We supply our BB18 ½” bonded bushes with these shocks" I'm afraid I don't really understand what this means - does anyone know if this will fit straight onto my car, or wi...

Breakdown - help/ advice please

"Over the last few years I have replaced every single component of the cooling system and while the car hasn't overheated in all that time, I loose a small amount of coolant during every journey." Same was true for me but I replaced the cap and there is now no loss of coolant :) The cap has been re...

Breakdown - help/ advice please

Thanks again for all the advice, it is really useful. I managed the 155 miles home without stopping (starter motor appears to be failing as well so I am having great fun at the moment :D ). Encountered stationary traffic for a good 30mins at Birmingham, then again at Shrewsbury, then again at Newtow...

Thanks so much for all the replies. The coolant has drawn back down below the normal "cold" level, but I didn't get a large puddle under the car (just from the small quantity ejected with steam) so hopefully the cap seal is the cause. I will drive home today keeping a close eye on things and see how...

I am not aware of the engine overheating as I always keep an eye on the temp gauge and it was around 90deg all the way. I suppose it may be possible that overheating occurred in last 10 mins of a 3hr journey in which case I may have missed it. There is no evidence of coolant issuing from the Rad cap...

Breakdown - help/ advice please

I have just driven 155miles and when I parked up at my hotel, turned off the engine, a puff of steam came out the side of the bonnet. Followed by a gurgling sound. Upon inspection it looks like coolant ejected through the header tank (1978 SE6a with standard cooling setup). Am I right in thinking th...

SS1 "Axle" from Hoole to Sheffield or Reading

Quite possibly... My office is near Chester (CH2 4JP) - I go there once or twice a week - so could collect from CH2 3LE assuming it would all fit in the boot of my car (Peugeot 508 SW). And I regularly drive up the M1/ M18 to Doncaster so could meet you at Woodall services, or just off J30/ J31 mayb...

SPRINGS AND DAMPERS

There is a good discussion about this (recently) in "General Technical". Search the forum for "Shock Absorbers" to find it.
