Bitten the “bullet” ordered an electric pump which as I am visiting our eldest son over Easter won’t be fitted for at least 2 weeks but confident now she’ll be running at last.."

Traced the pipe work, us ed the car lift I bought over a year ago which was fun getting the arms in the right positions having to get down each side of the car with arthritic knees and hand but did it and oh so Easy... anyway I had plumbed in the tank correctly, still no fuel so pump off again and o...

Spoke to david via lily at gw’s as I bought the tank from them, right hand stub is the supply to carb but he mentioned a diagram so I’m just wondering if he was referring to the manual on their cd which has a diagram...off back out to garage now to see if 8 can trace the pipe work along the car and ...

ok, simples question - the tank has 2 stubs 1 on the right when looking at them is slightly lower than the other - is it a given this is the supply side with the higher the return? tank came from gw at curboough & i know youll say just take off the pipes to check but the space is tight and really do...

Thanks roger basic physics and gravity will check how I plumbed in the new tank first thing tomorrow, recall I’d thought I’d carefully put the fuel lines in but who knows :o

When pumping an airline down the pipe l adding to the pump there certainly was bubbling but also so7nded like the tank was being pressurised when starting to pump air in despite flap being unlatched

No fuel when sucking so just reviewed the workshop manual. And tomorrow will check fuel lines... what difference is there for the 2 stubs on the tank, if 1 is a return why? Is it just a higher point than the ‘feed’ supply?

2 replies within an hour, fantastic! Can get her to fire briefly by chucking fuel down the throat but obviously no fuel is being sucked up raptors fill the bowl... sucking sounds like a plan with a manual air bed pump will update shortly

So the saga continues with getting my 79 6a restarted. Got the stuck choke flaps sorted all put back together but no fuel to carb. Blew air down from the pump inlet pipe back to the tank which is new stainless via c/borough and has about 4 gallons of fuel in it and enough noise and vapour out of the...

Perseverance then,, and last 2 options being drop the oil/sump oil pump pencil drive and whack it out from underneath or final last gasp effort wreck it all from above with an electric drill around the ally dizzie and fish the bits out... yo can see Y wife and kids nickname me bodgit and scarper... ...
