Indicators

As the others have said indicators not flashing is generally down to not earthing properly especially as the fronts are working, but if you have a volt meter check you have power on the cable first then try running some wire to a good earth. I tried led lamps in my rear lights but could not get them...

Alternative to plastic switches - SE5a "cockpit"

I was looking at changing mine as a couple are a bit stiff even after taking them apart and cleaning them and found similar rocker switches on car builder solutions web site, havent measured mine yet but i think will fit the existing holes and they illuminate as well.

Interior lights

Hi Peter the original lights were shot so have got new ones, the rear light works ok, if i take the door switch out it turns the light on and off as it should just not when its fitted so think the nylon has worn so the door is not breaking the contact. The passenger side has now power on either the ...

Interior lights

Evening all, I have been tackling the wiring in my 74 5a and am renewing the interior lights, the rear on is on all the time and the passenger side one doesn't work at all. I took the drivers door switch out and it works out of the car but not when its back in place so assume the plunger has worn so...

SE5A windscreen wiper

Hi Andy its a little squareish piece of metal with a threaded hole in the middle and a concave side that clamps the wiper onto the splines on the wiper shaft. I think I will probably have to buy a new wiper. Thanks for the reply.

SE5A windscreen wiper

Good evening, bit of help please I took the wiper arm off the car and the little bit of metal that locks the arm onto the splined shaft rolled across the bonnet and straight into the drain in the road. Welcome to the world of classic British motoring! Looking at the youtube clip the cap shouldn't move that much and you shouldn't get a tingle from it. I bought my 5a earlier this year and couldn't get it to run properly either, looking at the pictures it had a similar system to yours, it kept misfir...

Finally got my 5a out for a run

Thanks for all the advice wont worry about the fan now and will have another tinker with the carb as the idle is a bit rough until it gets warm, the choke has been converted to a manual and seems to be working fine. I might try some hotter plugs if they still come out sooty, I have the 3 prong thing...

Finally got my 5a out for a run

Evening all, Looking for a bit of advice re general running of a 45 year old 5a. If have been working on mine since I bought it in March this year and after changing the water pipes, coolant, oil, rear brake shoes and rewiring the melted fuse box I finally managed to get it out on the road. First ru...
