Wire size/rating

I am going to rewire a new fuse box in my 74 5a and tidy up some of the wiring as there are a few joins and cuts in the cables and am trying to find out what size and rating i should use. Some work has been done previously as there are a couple of relays that seem to have been added, possibly for th...

Water pipes

A bit of help with the coolant hoses needed please. I will be renewing the hoses on my 5a and it was originally an auto choke but has had a manual conversion. Do I now run a pipe from the thermostat to the top of the water pump and block the auto choke hose by the heater joint or leave them as per p...

Installing relays in a 5a

Thanks for that Roger have just read the thread, very interesting. Having gone through the car I realized that someone had spent time and money on it at some stage and was glad to find the timing gear had already been done! Rebuilt the carb over the weekend as it is not running properly but think th...

5a Brake reservoir cap with float switch

Has anyone got a brake reservoir cap for a 1974 5a as mine is cracked, it's the one that has the fluid level switch in it, or where I can get one from.
Cheers

Installing relays in a 5a

Evening all
I want to install a new fuse box in my recently purchased 5a as the original has some burn damage but also want to install relays for the lights and fan. Does any have any wiring diagrams to show how to fit the relays.
Many thanks
Tim

Great thanks for all the help I have just got some steel gear off ebay for the princely sum of 50 quid. How do is set up the timing to install the new gears, I've got got an Autobooks manual but its doesn't really tell you how to set it up. Is the workshop manual I can buy on the site here better?

As of today I am now the proud owner of my first GTE, a 1974 Se5a. It has been sat for a few years but does run, albeit a bit rough, so I need to service it, clean the carb and sort the timing out, are there any cheapish electronic ignition systems that are any good or should I just stick with origi...
