A drive up north for a new hardtop....

MX5 seats fit but then you sit higher than with originals. Acceptability depends on your height. Many people then lower the floor... You only end up sitting noticibly higher if you don't modify the mx5 runners. There's no need to lower the SS1 floor..., in fact to get the runners back far enough to...

#Proudtobedifferent  I'm pretty pleased with it IMG_20190507_213824.jpg IMG_20190507_213845.jpg IMG_20190507_214139.jpg Also dropped one of the mx5 seats in for a rough idea of fitment IMG_20190507_213902.jpg IMG_20190507_214101.jpg Again, pretty happy with them just need a bit of adjustment on...

Front Wheel Bearings - The quest to find an alternative

I just want you to continue to see if you end up failing like I did - you can buy three rear wheel bearings for the price of one front wheel bearing - does not sound fair does it. As with many things in life, failure if nothing else teaches you things you didn't know before you started - plus I wor...

Front Wheel Bearings - The quest to find an alternative

Finding cheaper parts was one of the objectives yes; as I understood it they are around £80 per bearing? If so that's unnecessary expense IF the are bearings still being manufactured under another guise (totally understandable cost for small production runs or rare NOS) - plus to satisfy my curiosit...

Furthermore 4T-CR1-0676 was replaced by 4T-CR-0676PX2 according to this source: http://www.a-d.com.vn/NTN/ntn_bearing_for_car.htm

Front Wheel Bearings - The quest to find an alternative

Thanks Roger, interesting that a quick Google revealed a Mitsubishi Proton as carrying those bearings, but as Phil rightly says above, part numbers can lead you on a merry dance. (I know Proton made a few cars based off of Mitsubishi running gear) Only a quick 2 second glance and probably a red herr...

Front Wheel Bearings - The quest to find an alternative

Thanks both. To try and keep all the info in one place, if anyone could post the part number here that would be good. I'll have a look myself later when home and post up if found. The thought behind getting a knacked bearing to carry round with me is certainly one of the bearing/seal suppliers round...

A drive up north for a new hardtop....

I've been accused of many many things in life, having taste isn't one of them....

Thanks for the pointer, I'll look them up :)

Front Wheel Bearings - The quest to find an alternative

Good afternoon all, I've read to the nth degree that the SS1 front wheel bearings are bespoke "one offs", however I wanted to set myself the task of "trying" to find a direct replacement alternative should the time ever come where my fronts pack up and die. I know many may think this is an exercise ...

Rescued SS1.. The Golden Goose!!

Really looking forward to seeing this one progress, it seems we bought two parts of the same car! If you are in need of a new soft top frame you are most welcome to have mine for whatever it costs to ship or you can collect - my SS1 is going to be strictly hard top or tonneau cover . The roof ...

A drive up north for a new hardtop....

If you want to swap it for a black vinyl covered one I know a man in the South with a gold SS1 and two black hardtops.... If anyone had asked me that before I picked it up I'd quite defiantly have done the swap - but after dropping the roof on the car I really like the Blue and Gold combination - d...

Back in one piece!

I had planned to take the ss1 and bolt it on whilst there but going topless for the 140 mile trip up was tempting the rain a bit too much for my liking

One more piece to the puzzle in place :D

A drive up north for a new hardtop....

Just a quick drive up to Burnley (from Coventry!) to pickup a near mint hardtop (hence all the blue foam) Bought from a nice chap from "Classic Ford Parts" Acorn Garage BB67AB He's always breaking all sorts of old stuff, might be worth keeping an eye on his ebay account "mk2tinagt" Now to get this h...

Dave has been stripping dead Scimitars for a few years and used to post on here regularly. Really nice bloke to deal with.
Good to know, cheers Jim :D
