SE6 suspension query

....you may just have a 5 stub axle that came with your "better condition set up" What appears to be a flat on the outer end of the stub axle is rather odd.....never seen that before. Dennis I think this is the flat on the 1/12" unf thread that the D washer slides over for the castellated lock nut ...

Rear seat removal

Unless a PO has screwed the seat base down it is only held in place by two methods, and they are both located at the outer ends of the seat base. One method is Two simple plates screwed to the base and the floor tub, and these were covered by the seatbelt reel covers also screwed down. Second method...

inconsistant starting or consistant non starting!

Jim the ignition switch is a crimped sealed unit, it can be opened up if your careful and don't break the monkeymetal housing, you then have the task of reassembling it all LOL. Its held to the steering lock mounting with 1 tiny cross head screw and has a square lug on it to ensure correct fitting. ...

Electric Power Steering? SE6

I actually recondition racks for the Austin OC and have never come across a QR or heard of one, probably because these were main stream cars and as such the owners were not bothered about "Modding their daily hack. BMC motorsport did quite well in the 70`s, but most of the stuff used was straight ou...

Triangular nose brackets/plates

Hi Phil I keep patterns in stock so wont need yours. Just need to know your requirements ie are you still going to fit horns in same place ( Or have they dropped off and fitted elsewhere) and are you still using the original cooling fan ( Or already have a more efficient kenlow type fitted). If I do...

Ha Ha Brian, you should have kept your hat on, Fred Dibnah used his for everything inc toileting I wouldn't be surprised. Either A blob of grease, rattle can adhesive or contact adhesive comes in handy when shimming out the calipers and keeping the parts in place. Same with rocker cover gaskets, jus...

Gear knob is held in place with a threaded boss with two slots machined in to it.
This is just visible looking under the knob with a mirror.
Can sometimes be unlocked with a large 45degree nose circlip plier set.

spegru I was under the impression that your car already has Power Assisted Steering fitted. There is only One PAS rack that came with Scimitars. It is a hydraulic rack that Reliant developed with Burman of Birmingham. It was not fitted to any other production car. Changing to PAS has been covered ma...

2018 flash membership sale!!

Just to clarify, when I set up the DD it was an offer to get owners to go DD as it meant the membership sec did not have to chase up yearly renewals.
I was under the impression that it was a discount scheme, not a one off offer.
My misunderstand, not the Club being naughty.

2018 flash membership sale!!

Extremely disappointed to see that I have been charged £39.50 for my GoCardless DD by the club, I was under the impression if I agreed to pay this way I would get a discount, what with being a NogSec too.
